Organic Microdermabrasion has to be one of my all time favourite treatments.
Organic skincare and treatment menus have grown considerably throughout spas and salons the world over, proving extremely popular amongst actors, models and ‘it’ girls. The majority of spas and salons now retail and offer at least one organic range to clients opting for a healthier and more responsible approach to beauty. Eco chic, sustainable and natural are powerful new words the beauty industry is embracing with gusto.
Traditional microdermabrasion uses Aluminium Oxide or Zinc Crystals that are blown into the skin under pressure and suctioned away simultaneously with a sterilised nozzle. The process removes dead skin cells and encourages circulation to the treated skin resulting in improved skin and promoting cell renewal and has proven results when teamed with a high percentage acid peel to resurface deep acne scarring, lines and wrinkles, even skin tone and texture, reduce enlarged pores, blackheads and congested skin.
Unfortunately these synthetic crystals have caused irritation in the past on sensitive skins. Organic Microdermabrasion machines such as the Oxy-Derm use an Organic Grain and Flower Blend of crystals offering a more gentle treatment but with the same remarkable results. Anyone who suffers from hay-fever allergies or sinus conditions may particularly find the treatments a bit painful but I have found that if you take an anti-histamine 30 minutes prior to your treatment, the allergies don’t respond as bad and you can still enjoy the deep cleaning benefits.
I have seen phenomenal results over the years when clients commit to a series of microdermabrasion treatments especially when attempting to remove recent, mild to moderate acne scarring. Now this a viable option for those who have chosen to eco chic up their beauty routine a little.
